Life in Cape May
For anyone who has ever visited Cape May the thought may have occurred…”What would it be like to live in Cape May?”
Cape May is a time capsule. Many of the homes are on the Historic Home Register. A walk through the historic district will take visitors back to a time where the town thrived with beautiful Victorian architecture. The historic homes are now protected by a historic commission. Should an owner of a home want to make changes to the exterior they will need approval from the Historic Commission. Why is this important? The community is protected from historic homes being torn down for new homes. So to begin with if you choose to live in Cape May you will own property in a community that cares about its past.
The town has everything a typical town has for commerce. We have an Acme and a CVS and many other businesses that specifically cater to the tourist. A favorite time of the year is the off season for many full time residents. The off season seems to be shorter each year in Cape May. The rental season is now 8-10 months of the year. Cape May is becoming a year round destination. Cape May is a wonderful place to retire and relax. If you get bored easily Cape May will fill your days with fun. There is always something going on …an event, a concert, a movie on the beach and so much more. If you need a break from the everyday routine residents can walk the beach or take a bike ride through town. Cape May is a pet lovers town.
