Cape May offers a variety of beaches that line the promenade in Cape May, but some of our favorites are just a short drive away. Most notable is Sunset Beach, which as the name suggests, offers wonderful beach sunsets and Cape May diamonds, bits of polished glass created by glass, sand and time Just north you’ll find Higbee Beach, another incredible option that’s secluded and dog-friendly. For a quiet option that’s right in town, head to Poverty Beach for soft, white sand and a vantage point that might even produce some dolphin sightings during the summer months. There are even a few whale and dolphin watching boats that offer up-close-and-personal encounters if you’re into that kind of thing. If your looking for the what we think is the best beach area in Cape May its the Cove. The cove is a secluded beach area that features a crescent shaped beach. Located at the end of Beach Avenue towards the lighthouse, the Cove is everything we love about a beach in Cape May. Quiet and remote you will love it!
Higbee Beach at Higbee Wildlife Management Area is secluded. Get away from the crowds and enjoy a peaceful stroll on the beach with nothing but the sounds of the waves crashing and the seagulls flying overhead. Do note that the scenic beach is not for swimming as there are no lifeguards on duty.

Sunset Beach is the ultimate spot to view sunsets. Sunset Beach is the perfect spot to park your car and watch the sun go down on another lovely day in Cape May. Visitors also enjoy the Sunset Beach Grill, where you can dine al fresco with a view!
