Things to do in Cape May

Cape May News - admin - August 2, 2019

Take a Trolley Ride through the Historic District

Its one of the best ways to see the town. If you love history or just want to see the town from a really cool perspective, try the trolley. The trolleys offer a great way to see all of the historic homes and wonderful architecture. Whether you want to learn history or hear ghost stories, the Cape May Trolley is the perfect choice. Guides tell passengers little historical gems about certain homes and streets. The trolley rides are often themed. During the holiday season the trolleys offer special tours. During Halloween the trolleys offer ghost themed tours. For more information visit  capemaymac.org/trolley-tours.

Take a stroll down the Washington Street Mall

Right in the heart of the historic district is the Mall. It features dozens of shops and restaurants along a brick paved street. The street was converted from Cape Mays main street to a closed walking street in the 1970s. Here you will find The Ugly Mug restaurant, The Cape May Fish Market, Tishas, and many more wonderful restaurants and pubs. The mall features art stores, gift stores, a 5 & 10 and lots of ice cream stores. The best time to stroll the mall is nighttime. Its lit beautifully and just a fun night out

Visit the Lighthouse

Get ready to climb some steps. The Cape May Lighthouse boasts 199 steps. Along the way you’ll stop in little alcoves and learn about the history of the lighthouse and how it was used to save lives. But the real reason to do the climb isn’t for the history or the exercise, it’s for the view — and the view from the top is a hard one to beat. The Cape May Lighthouse is located at 215 Lighthouse Ave. in Cape May Point State Park. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Learn more at capemaymac.org/cape-may-lighthouse.

Eat Breakfast at The Mad Batter

Everyone who visits the Cape seems to make The Mad Batter a must do experience. Why? The breakfasts are the best. Tip: Get there early lines are long.

Visit The Bread Lady

One of the most unique things to do is to visit The Bread Lady. The Bread Lady bakes fresh bread treats and puts them out in the morning for everyone to enjoy. The Bread Lady is located on the road to the Lighthouse. You cant miss her little store on the side of the road.

Whale and Dolphin Watching

)

Cape May is home to several whale and dolphin watching cruises, offering up chances for you see marine animals in their natural habitat. When we were in Cape May we hit up the Cape May Whale Watcher which has the fastest and largest boat of the whale watching companies in the area. Nothing beats hanging out with a pod of dolphins, which tend to be plentiful in the summer around Cape May Point. Cape May Whale Watcher also offers a marine animal sighting guarantee.
