One of our favorite weekends is the Harvest Brew Fest in Cape May. Visitors and locals can enjoy local craft beers and celebrate the Jersey Shore during this all-day festival. Its all bout whats going on locally at the Brewfest. Cape May Point State Park

Located on the southern tip of New Jersey, Cape May Point State Park is a major site on the NJ Coastal Heritage Trail. The park includes an environmental center that houses a classroom for related programs and a museum on the Cape May areas natural and historic features. Cape May Point State Park is  open from dawn to dusk. The park is closed at night. The park has a beach wheel chair available to the public. Several cut trails lead visitors to large coastal dunes, marshes and ponds. This natural area is known along the East Coast for its resident and migratory birds and includes habitat suitable for northern and southern species of fauna and flora. The Cape May lighthouse is still an aid to navigation for maritime business. Visitors who decide to venture up the 199 steps to the top of the lighthouse will see a spectacular panoramic view of the scenic Cape May peninsula. Located in the park is the World War II Fire Control Tower Fire Control Tower 23. It’s New Jersey’s last remaining World War II tower, which was part of the immense Delaware Bay harbor defense system known as Fort Miles.

The longest running birding festival in the USA just keeps getting better. New Jersey Audubon’s Cape May Bird Observatory has its pulse on the fall migration and you are invited to be a part of it. Four official migratory counts take place during the fall: the Monarch Monitoring Project, the Avalon Seawatch, the Morning Flight Songbird Count, and of course the celebrated Cape May Hawkwatch. There is no better way to immerse yourself in the storied birding experience that is Cape May than attending this festival.

Registration of $65 per day or $175 for all three days includes an abundant selection of walks for all skill levels, and special photography walks, as well as insightful and entertaining indoor programs. Want to work on your hawk ID? Registration includes Hawk ID Master Classes every afternoon at The Bleachers on Stevens Street overlooking the Rea Farm fields. Same for sea birds at the bleachers on the beach in Avalon. There are boat trips and special trolley trips for additional costs that are only open to festival registrants.

Cape May Lighthouse Information

Built in 1859, the Cape May Lighthouse is still helps navigators approach the Delaware Bay. Visitors who climb to the top will see spectacular wide views of the Atlantic Ocean and Delaware Bay. Climbing the lighthouse has become an fun tradition for many visitors.  The Oil House contains a fully-accessible visitors’  center and a Lighthouse Shop filled with maritime collectibles.  For additional information on lighthouse or tower hours of operation call the Mid Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities (MAC) at 609-884-5404 or visit www.capemaymac.org.

The present tower, which is the third documented lighthouse at the southern tip of New Jersey, has been an aid-to-navigation for mariners and attraction for visitors  since it was built in 1859.

​More than 2.5 million visitors have climbed the lighthouse since it opened to the public in 1988.

For those who choose not to climb, the Oil House on the grounds contains a fully accessible Visitors’

Admission $8 adults; $5 children (ages 3-12). Tickets may be purchased

online or at the Lighthouse during hours of operation
